OMK Summer 2021 Promo-2.png

Hey Community -

We cannot stress this enough: thank you, thank you, thank you for your continued support of Our Mothers’ Kitchens (OMK). We are now entering our fourth year hosting the Summer Workshop for Black Girls. Each year, we like to gift our little sisters a book by a Black woman author so they can continue to explore our stories on their own.

You can support our little sisters on that quest by donating Books for Black Girls! We are collecting books all year-round.

You can drop off books either in-person or mail to our partners at Tree House Books:

OMK Books for Black Girls
c/o Sabriaya Shipley, Tree House Books
1430 W Susquehanna Ave
Philadelphia, PA 19121

Book can be dropped off in-person on Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 10 AM until 5 PM. Just be sure to put them in a box or bag clearly labeled “OMK”. Ask for Sabriaya :-)

If you would like to donate a book to a little sister, we implore you to purchase from these local Black booksellers (or one’s that are convenient for you): Black and Nobel, The Sable Collective, Hakim’s Bookstore, Uncle Bobbie’s Coffee and Books, Harriet’s Bookshop, etc. Choose a book written by a Black female author that moved you when you were a young person. Even if you have good condition secondhand books, that works, we love it! If you’re still stuck, feel free to take a peek at our Amazon Wish List. (Just remember to give your dollar to a Black bookseller!) We want our little sisters to have a wide variety of books to choose from.

We understand that now is a stressful and uncertain time for folks, so if you are unable to give a book or a donation, then please spread the word, tell your friends, and shout us out on social media. We appreciate it all. Be well, be safe and take care of each other.
